This program is the result of the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism's commitment to provide quality recreational trail opportunities in South Carolina. The goal is to foster a Statewide network of trails and greenways to link communities, preserve open space, and provide access to our public lands.

The Palmetto Trail when finished, will be a 400+ mile nonmotorized recreational trail that will traverse the State from Oconee State Park in the upstate to near McClellanville on the coast. The Trail will connect the mountains to the sea forming a spine for a network of trails in South Carolina for walking and bicycling.
