Columbia has a Council-Manager form of government under which voters choose a mayor
and six city councilmen in April elections during each even-numbered year.
Terms of office are four years, with council members and mayor serving staggered
terms. The City Manager, appointed by the Council, is the city's chief
administrator and is primarily responsible for the efficient operation of the
city government.
Columbia's Mayor is Bob Coble.

Fritz Hollings is the senior Senator from the Sate of

District 2. He has served since December 2001. Wilson serves on a number of House committes, including the House Armed Services Committee.
